During halftime off the Gopher game last night, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers played drums in the middle of the Pride of Minnesota Marching Band. Cool show. Though he definitely wasn’t marching 😉 he was well mic’d and played with his typical enthusiasm.

Here’s an example of seeing photos I’ve taken at the same spot on runs over time. I like how I can see the history of a location. It’s also nice for marking where an off trail cache may live… 🧻🏃

I just finished reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson — this was fantastic!! I knocked this out fast… Loved it.

Got out on a shakeout run with elite ultra runner Courtney Dauwalter… So cool that she grew up in Hopkins! I’m literally standing next to one of the top 5 endurance athletes in the world (and you’d never know it). Met her husband as well and talked with him for 15 minutes. Great night!

Got the boat out of the water and off for winterization and storage. Really happy with our new (to us) boat purchase this year!

Devaluation of AI assistance

This puts a box around a phenomenon I’ve been seeing. While there are real challenges with AI slop, quality AI assisted work is devalued.

Our experiment showed no quality difference in AI-assisted work… This disconnect reveals the path forward—shift from evaluating how work is done to what is accomplished. Replace subjective competence ratings with objective metrics such as cycle time, accuracy, defect rates.
